Annual Fashion Spotlight CENTRESTAGE Opens in September 200+ Top Brands to Set Asia’s Fashion Trends

Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the international fashion trade show CENTRESTAGE will take place from 6-9 September at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Last year, the inaugural show became talk of the town attracting exceptional fashion brands, designers, buyers and fashion enthusiasts. The upcoming show will continue to turn the wheels of Asia’s fashion industry with over 200 sought-after international and fashion brands, as well as an array of spectacular events including captivating runway shows, designer sharing sessions, industry seminars, networking events and more.

 

Over 200 Fashion Brands in the Limelight

Setting as a fashion promotion and launch platform in the region, the milestone event CENTRESTAGE will house more than 200 brands under three thematic zones: GLAM, ALLURE and METRO, revealing upcoming season’s wardrobe must-haves. Exhibiting local brands and designer labels include anagram, Angus Tsui, DORISKATH, HARRISON WONG, House of V, i.t, KENAXLEUNG and Loom Loop. A number of overseas brands such as CHENG PAI CHENG (Taiwan), DEW E DEW E (Korea), DRESSEDUNDRESSED (Japan), Edward Achour (France) and POURQUOI (Macau) will also participate.

 

Hong Kong and Korean Designers Take the Stage

The glamorous opening gala show CENTRESTAGE ELITES will be staged on 6 September. Celebrated designers from Hong Kong and Korea will present their latest collections with top models. Representative from Hong Kong will be FFIXXED STUDIOS, founded by Fiona Lau and Kain Picken. Taking the inspiration from modern culture during their time in Australia, the designer duo started the brand with a collective of art and design. Its men and women’s collections have been presented at worldwide fashion weeks. This rising Asia’s design couple will launch their SS18 collection, expressing modern simplicity and sense of effortlessness and comfort, at the show.

 

Korean design supremo Juun. J will make its debut at Hong Kong’s runway. Being the pioneer of Korean fashion, JUUN. J’s avant-garde design is largely inspired by street culture with precise tailoring. The brand has gathered critical acclaim and loyal followers including K-pop megastars G-Dragon and Taeyang. Having showcased in the global fashion arena, JUUN. J will present in Hong Kong for the first time with its latest SS18 collection.

 

YDC 2017 Uncovers Latest Hong Kong Fashion Talent

The Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers’ Contest 2017 (YDC), which has been a cradle for local design talents, will be held on 9 September as the finale of CENTRESTAGE. Fifteen shortlisted designers will compete for the top three awards, as well as the JOYCE New Talent Award and Best Footwear Design Award. This year’s VIP judge will be Mug, founder and designer of G.V.G.V., which is a popular Japanese fashion brand. She will attend the last stage of the competition and share her insights and ideas with the finalists.

 

Line-up of Exciting Events

An array of spectacular runway shows and parades will present various brands’ collections across the four-day schedule, enabling global buyers to get a hold of the latest fashion trends. Among those, Knitwear Innovation and Design Society will stage Knitwear Symphony and the seventh Hong Kong Young Knitwear Designers’ Contest on 8 September, and organise “Knit Voyage 2017” exhibition during the show period to highlight the strength of local knitwear products to global traders and foster the development of local industry. Besides, multiple networking events and trend seminars will be organised during the show, and seasoned industry professionals and experts will analyse the latest trends in fashion.

 

A City of Fashion

To allow public getting involved with fashion, CENTRESTAGE will transform into OPENSTAGE on the last day of the show (9 Sept), and visitors aged 12 or above will be admitted free of charge. Starting from mid-August, various event partners across the city will be joining CENTRESTAGE’s citywide campaign “Hong Kong in Fashion” with a series of curated events, installations and exclusive offers. The HKTDC and D2 Place will join hands to kick-start the campaign with “Hong Kong in Fashion Fiesta@D2 Place” in Lai Chi Kok from 15 August onwards. Exciting events such as Streetsnap Competition (#CENTRESTAGEHK), mini-fashion shows and exhibitions by local design institutes, Fashion Night Out, DIY workshops and KOL broadcast will be held.
